Engineered floor is a product at first developped for condos. These products, instead of being nailed or stapled to a subfloor, can be installed directly on concrete.
At the opposite of a solid hardwood floor, enginnered floors are built from multiple wood layers. One or two bases stabilize the superior layer, which is visible. The width of the wood pieces vary from 2 ¼’’ to 5 1/8’’.
Engineered flooring is a prevarnished wood floor. You can’t buy it unfinished and finish it home. Nevertheless, you can, if it needs it in 10 years, sand your floor and put a new coat of varnish to refresh it.
PM Flooring distributes Symmetry engineered floors. Made of 100% hardwood through to through, Symmetry reaches astonishing peaks of strength, structural stability and resistance. The three layers are glued using a coldfusion technology. The result is a perfect bond that performs as never before possible. The manufacturer guarantees that no cupping, crowning or twisting will occur within a range of 25 to 75% relative humidity. The industry average is between 40 to 60%.
Symmetry flooring is installable in condos as well as in houses. It can be nailed, glued or installed floating. More details about installation are available in the « Installation types » section.
